Testimonials
While creating this website, we asked previous clients for their views and testimonials upon work Deep In Gardens have carried out. These are all genuine, unedited and something that makes us very proud indeed!
Mrs W, Market Deeping
“I needed help with my garden so I asked around friends and relatives to see who they felt would be suitable. I wanted someone who loved gardens and would recognise the plants, shrubs and trees and know how to treat them. I wanted someone honest, trustworthy and reliable who was easy to have around the place. I found the right man when I employed Iain Toombs, he meets all of my criteria and more. My garden is looking fantastic!”
“I got more than a gardener though, he is an excellent handyman and he has been more than willing to do some carpentry and some outside decorating for me. All of his work has been to a very high standard and I am very happy to recommend him and his workmanship to you all, I am a very happy customer of his.”
Mrs R, Crowland
“Iain recently carried out some tree surgery on my mums fruit trees, what a fantastic job he did, and such reasonable prices too. Would highly recommend Deep In Gardens for any garden maintenance. Thank you Iain.”
Mr F, Spalding
“My Leylandii hedge had grown out of control, but in three days, working non-stop in appalling weather, Iain had got it down to the right level and disposed of all the branches. He is a courteous, conscientious worker and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.”
Mrs R, Market Deeping
“Iain was recommended by Swinesmeadow Garden Centre. Iain knows his stuff and happily gets on with the job in hand. My garden has never looked so good. Iain is booked for February to spruce things up after the winter and get ready for the spring/summer. No job is too big or small and Iain certainly leaves his mark. I have no hesitation in recommending Iain.”
Mr R, Peterborough
“Thank you Iain from Deep In Gardens for a superb job on my garden. I am so pleased with my new greenhouse you built and all those smaller jobs like hedge trimming and tree pruning saved me hours of back breaking work. Always punctual, hard-working – and you even cleared up after you! And all at a very fair price. Thank you again!”
Mrs W, Deeping St James
“I have used various gardeners over the past 30 years and non have worked as hard as Iain has. He is a very capable man who has kept my garden neat and tidy and even helped fix my windows, shed roof and replace my patio. Living alone and unable to do these jobs, he’s invaluable. I couldn’t do without him now.”
Mr B, Deeping St James
“The edge of my property is surrounded by mature trees and bushes that forms a fine, private border for much of the year. However, the trees and bushes were getting out of hand with the effect that the rear of the house was not getting a lot of natural light during the summer months. Having neither the time or skills to solve this problem myself, I contacted Deep In Gardens to see if they could help. After a site meeting with Iain, a three-point programme was worked out with progress being noted from the first day’s work. The result has been a garden that retains its private nature but with the scope for more light to get into more parts of it. Communication was good throughout the project and the costs very reasonable. I’m very pleased with the project and will know who to call when further work is required.”
Gutter clearance and repairs
Are your gutters blocked? Do your gutters need of a serious clean? When was the last time they were checked? Well there’s no need to worry. Simply give Deep In Gardens a call and we will arrange a time to come over to make sure the water runs freely and they shine like new again.
And if you have a leaking gutter, let us come along to check it out. In most cases the problem won’t be a serious one; it’s more than likely blocked. So get in touch and we will come over to check it out and fix it right there on the spot, or if the matter is a little more serious and the gutter has split or cracked, we will measure up and replace the offending part as quickly as possible.
Ideally, gutters should be checked twice a year in order to prevent water leakage and the possibility of damp entering the house brickwork and ultimately the plasterwork.
Oddjobs and general maintenance
Over the years we have been asked numerous times if we could help with general repair work to client’s houses, garages, sheds and such like. This is never a problem; if you require someone to undertake those little jobs that you never ever seem to get around to doing, it’s definitely worth dropping us a line.
Whether it’s painting, pointing-up, repairing cracks, decorating, fitting shelves, erecting sheds, greenhouses and summer houses, even building flatpack furniture – we’ve done them all.
There’s two things we prefer not to help with, due to lack of experience – major electrical jobs and large plumbing problems. They are definitely best left to the experts!
But, if you require a general handyman who can be trusted to solve and fix your household problem quickly and efficiently, don’t hesitate to call Deep In Gardens – you may be pleasantly surprised with the results.
Just some of our general maintenance and building work
Erecting a new greenhouse and building a base with central drainage
Placing a small patio seating area
Replacing and pointing-up an old, weathered patio with new
Repairing a rotten decking base
Fence installation, fence repairs and fence painting
Whether you require a broken fence panel or fence post replacing, or a complete new fence erecting, Deep In Gardens will install it quickly and efficiently.
We even offer a fence painting and treatment service too, to ensure your fence remains weather-proof and in perfect condition for many years to come. You simply choose the colour and we will do the rest!
All wood used is sourced locally from Branch Brothers so you know you will receive a quality product that will not let you down.
We are happy to install shiplap panels within concrete or wooden posts, palisade fences, or build closeboard fences to your exact specifications.
If you wish for a new gate to be installed, that’s never a problem. Choose from a huge array of pre-made wooden or metal gates, or we can create one for you to suit the gap required.
Basically, whatever style of fence you require, we will be only too pleased to bring your ideas to life.
Examples of our fence work…
Garden clearance
Whether you’ve just moved home, you’ve given your garden a serious trim, or your old, rotten shed has collapsed, Deep In Gardens can clear the waste away quickly and efficiently.
We will happily remove all types of garden waste, listed below, where it will be disposed of legally and recycled where appropriate.
We dispose of our waste at Prentice Brothers where they charge £20 per trailer load (1.5 tons maximum).
Items we will collect and remove
Wood, posts and fence panels
Trees and bushes
Weeds, nettles and brambles
Turf
Walling and bricks
Slabs and driveway blocks
Soil, rubble and concrete
Metal and wire
Items we will not collect
Asbestos
Tyres
Non-garden waste
Patio and driveway cleaning
If your patio has seen better days and it’s in urgent need of a serious clean, drop us a line. With our professional grade power washer, combined with detergents for treating stubborn grease, paint and oil stains, we can bring any size patio back to life within hours.
We power wash patios, decking, steps, block paving driveways and concrete driveways.
Simply contact us on the number above and explain your requirements and we will happily help you out.
Tree surgery
If you have a problem tree that either requires a substantial trim, or complete removal, Deep In Gardens will be more than happy to undertake the challenge.
Tree surgery is a major part of our work, with clients requesting our services throughout the south Lincolnshire and north Cambridgeshire area.
Why? Because we understand how best to treat a tree to gain the maximum benefit from its new growth the following season, and – more importantly – our services are far more reasonable than the vast majority of tree surgeons!
Whether it’s a simple trim of a fruit tree to ensure you gain the maximum from next year’s harvest, a severe cutting back of a deciduous or evergreen tree that has outgrown your garden, or the complete removal of an offending tree or trees – call us for a quote.
We will remove all the waste – we will even chop suitable sections of trunk or branches for your wood burner if you wish. Removal of waste does incur an additional charge as all our green waste is dumped at Prentice Brothers for recycling (they charge £20 per trailer load, maximum 1.5 tons per load).
A typical example of some of our work is below, whereby a client required their neglected apple tree to be reduced in size and given a thorough prune in order to ensure it grows well, grows compact and produces a better yield of fruit.
